Implementing OKR to reduce complexity in everyday routines
With Energinet’s rapid growth in overseeing Denmark’s energy infrastructure, aligning the IT team around clear objectives and key results became essential.

The Story
In the midst of geopolitical threats and a growing national need to reinforce critical infrastructure IT and data plays an increasingly important role. The task was clear; help us define practical objectives and key results that will motivate and make IT even more efficient.
In close collaboration with the client’s strategy consultants, we had the privilege to engage in the independent public enterprise owned by the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy, Energinet.
”Enabling all team members to have a clear vision of success in every day work is really what the project was all about”
How we helped
- Listening closely to leaders and employees in the IT team and analysing former measures for success in the everyday work.
- Establishing OKR measures as a pilot and testing the pilots for clarity and outcomes.
- Guided management in scaling OKR implementation across functions—built on insights from pilot successes.
What’s next?
The result was a unique and tailored OKR model for the IT team at Energinet fostering a longitudinal and consistent way of helping individuals and teams performing to objectives.
Energinet’s purpose is to own, operate and develop the overall energy infrastructure and manage related tasks, thus contributing to the development of a climate-neutral energy supply. Danish consumers finance Energinet’s activities through payments that figure as a separate item on the electricity bill and the gas bill.
